About Us
VO2 Max Events and TrailRunning.co.uk are a small team based in Kendal, in the beautiful English Lake District.
Our aim is to create world class, innovative, mass participation sporting events within the iconic setting of the Lake District National Park.
We’ve just launched a new Navigation Trails event brand, bringing a new style of orienteering to the UK.
Event Director, Graham Patten, created the Lakeland Trails in 2004, with an idea to bring a European model of all-inclusive, environmentally sustainable, trail running events to the Lake District. This essentially launched the sport of trail running in the UK, which is why we own this website domain.
Graham was the Owner and Event Director of Lakeland Trails for 18 years, until handing over the role in December 2021. From humble beginnings, these events grew successfully over the years with a peak of over 12,000 competitors annually, with all ages and abilities taking part. What pleased us the most, was having an equal split of men and women at every event.
Born Survivor, an obstacle racing brand, was created by us in 2013 and it’s great to see these events still going strong.
Our blog is about the people, places and events that have helped shaped our approach to event management. We’ve always tried to help inspire others to enjoy the sports we love the most. We sincerely hope our tales of trail running will inspire you to even greater enjoyment during your own trail running adventures.
