I just started running and have previously not been hugely fit. live in london currently (last month) running 4/5 nights usually around 6.5k

Just signed up for the Consiton 15k in October. Think this was a mistake and I meant to sign up for the fun trail

do i stand any chance of getting fit enough to do the 15k? if so what do i need to do in terms of training? and where in london is good to do it?

You wil be fine if you get out and do some running and training. Up your mileage over the next few months and maybe even find a running club to join. Its 15k, some is challenging, but from what I remember of the course its all runable and very enjoyable.

Plus, it will give you something to aim for.

You've loads of time to get fit and build yourself up to the distance - if you're still worried nearer the time, contact the organisers and swap into the Challenge.

This goes over the same route but is designed for slower (or less confident) runners - its essentially non-competitive and there's no shame in walking if you need to. Down side is that you lose a couple of hours sleep as it starts earlier.

Can't help regards where to run in London specifically but it will definitely help if you're able to get out onto some hilly trails somewhere.

Of course, the upsides to running the Challenge is that you get first dibs at the Kendal mint cake and water, there's loads of tee shirts to choose from when you finish, you don't trail (sorry!) round at the tail end and you meet a nicer class of person in the Challenge. Strange but true - the fastest MV60 in the Garburn Challenge was faster than the MV60 inthe 'proper' race.

Tom - you'll be fine. What's more, you'll be hooked on trail running! At least, that's what happened to me. Never been much more than a very casual runner and never really enjoyed pounding the pavements, but signed up for last year's Hawkshead race as a goal to keep me motivated for regular training. Loved it, and signed up for the rest of the series as soon as I got home. It's not just the race, its the whole day which is a real event and lots of fun.

As someone else mentioned above, make sure you've entered the Challenge rather than the main race. That way, there's no pressure. Definitely find some hills to train on. And trail shoes might help too. Other than that, just go out and enjoy it!
