Sweet Sensation for Sticky Toffee Trail

Published 20 Jan 2012 in News

The opening event in the 2012 Lakeland Trails series at Cartmel Racecourse in the Lake District on 17th March 2012 is proving a sweet temptation to many, and the event is currently 80% full. The first event of the day is at 11 o'clock, with the Sticky Toffee Trail Run 10km. Featuring a grandstand start and finish on the Racecourse, with amazing views across Morecambe Bay, the 10km off road course also has sections of deep mud and a river crossing near the end to wash the muck off. All finishers are rewarded with a locally produced sticky toffee pudding and an event finishers technical T shirt memento. For those wanting even more punishment, the afternoon sees the running of the Cartmel Trail Challenge 18km starting at 1 o'clock - an event geared up for the less competitive and charity runner. This is followed by the Blue Riband event, the Cartmel Trail Race 18km, for the serious guys and girls. The awesome Brazilian samba drumming band Batala Lancaster will be performing throughout the day and making sure everyone is pumped with adrenaline before they set off. The event is supporting the regional charity BAY Search and Rescue, and you can enter online vie the event website www.lakelandtrails.org
